Making Specialist Consultations Possible

Living with a CSF leak can be overwhelming – physically, emotionally, and financially. At Target CSF Leaks, we understand the challenges patients face. That’s why we’ve created the Patient Grant Scheme: a fund designed to provide practical support for those most in need and to make access to the right specialist a reality.

What the Grant Covers

The grant provides funding for the initial consultation with a CSF leak specialist of our recommendation.

This consultation:

• Connects you directly with a recognised expert in CSF leaks
• Provides a thorough assessment of your symptoms and MRI findings
• Outlines the next steps in investigations or treatment, tailored to your situation

Please note:

• Applicants must be prepared to travel for further investigations and/or treatment if advised by the specialist (for example, MRI, CT myelography, or other procedures).
• The grant only covers the consultation itself. Any costs for travel, scans, follow-up appointments, or treatment are the responsibility of the patient.
• Payments are made directly to the specialist or clinic, not to the applicant.

Who Can Apply

The scheme is open to:

• Members of Target CSF Leaks*
• UK residents aged 18 years or over
• Patients diagnosed with a CSF leak and facing financial hardship
• At least one positive MRI scan will be required
• Spontaneous, Cranial, Iatrogenic or Traumatic leaks all welcome to apply

Applications are assessed fairly, confidentially and with care on a case-by-case basis.

How to Apply

We want the process to be simple, clear, and stress-free:

1. Complete the application form.
2. Attach supporting documents.
3. Review by trustees – applications are considered confidentially by the Target CSF Leaks trustees, who assess eligibility and need.
4. Outcome notification – you will be informed by email whether your application has been successful.
